Whether you love it or hate it — come December 18, there is no escaping it. After 15 years away from the silver screen, Star Wars is back and fans the world over are reawakening.
It’s been a long wait since the 2012 Walt Disney Company acquisition of Lucasfilm and the announcement of a new trilogy. With little known about the plot of Star Wars: The Force Awakens, many have turned to the humble sketchpad to release some of the bubbling tension.
Now we want to see what you’ve created! CNN is asking you to join our competition as we search the galaxy for the best fan art celebrating Star Wars: The Force Awakens.
Rules: Feel the force and draw it
We may not have much to go on — little is known about the plot other than that it’s set 30 years after the last “Return of the Jedi.” Not that that’s ever stopped a Star Wars fan before.
Working off the familiar landscapes or tantalizing clues like stormtroopers assembling en masse as seen in the trailers and teases, we know you’ve got some amazing ideas for the film and what you’d like to see. And don’t forget we’ve got a few new faces (Hi Finn, Rey and Maz!) to add to your masterpieces. Alternatively your illustrations could celebrate the return of a beloved character or salute a new recruit (I’m looking at you BB-8). Or perhaps you want to capture an X-Wing fighter in flight.
How to enter
Once you’re ready to show us what you’d like, submit to the contest by uploading your work of art to the media wall below using the red ‘Upload your fan art’ button. Alternatively, you can upload it directly to Twitter, Instagram or Facebook using the hashtag #CNNStarWars. But don’t forget to change your post setting to ‘Public’ on Facebook so we can see what you upload.
You’ve got two weeks to get creative and we’ll feature the best of entries on CNN. Deadline is December 14 — good luck and may the force be with you!
