John F. “Jack” Sierzega, 83, of DuBois died Sunday, Nov. 29, 2015 at Penn Highlands DuBois.
Born Jan. 1, 1932, he was the son of the late John E. and Mary A. (Zuchowski) Sierzega.
On Sept. 3, 1955, he married Margaret M. “Mae” (Murphy) Sierzega. She preceded him in death on May 25, 1997.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and served during the Korean War. He retired from the former Rockwell International Manufacturing after 47 years of service.
He was a member of the St. Michael the Archangel Roman Catholic Church and the Polish Citizens Club.
He was an avid musician and he played in well-known bands such as Live Wires, The 3 of Us and The Polka Dimension.
He was a great musical influence on his entire family. The greatest love of his life, however, was his family.
He is survived by four children, Linda M. Walker, Marla J. Sierzega, Edward J. Sierzega and his wife, Sherrie and Ronald E. Sierzega and his husband, George, all of DuBois; four grandchildren, Cory, Adam and Brittany Sierzega and Luke Walker; and six great-grandchildren.
He is also survived by three brothers, Ronald Sierzega and his wife, Mary of Allentown, David Sierzega and his wife, Pat of Bath and Gerard Sierzega and his wife, Kathy of DuBois.
He was preceded in death by his son, John G. Sierzega and two infant twin daughters, two sisters, Geraldine Kozloski and Delores Shick; and a brother, Richard Sierzega.
Friends will be received from 5 p.m. – 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Goble-Baronick Funeral Home.
A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, at the Goble-Baronick Funeral Home with Fr. Daniel Kresinski officiating.
Full military honors will be accorded from the funeral home by the members of the DuBois Area Honor Guard. Burial will be in St. Michael’s Cemetery.
