Chelsea Clinton to headline a fundraiser for her mom

Chelsea Clinton has so far played a small role in her mother’s presidential campaign, but that will change later this month when the former first daughter headlines a holiday fundraiser with Hillary Clinton.

According to an invite obtained by CNN, Chelsea Clinton will headline a “Family Holiday Celebration With Hillary and Chelsea” on December 17 in New York.

The event is the first fundraiser to include Chelsea Clinton as a headlining speaker. The former first daughter and vice chair at the Clinton Foundation has attended a number of other campaign fundraisers, however.

Actress Drew Barrymore and her husband, Will Kopelman, will co-host the New York event. Tickets start at $250 per person and go up to $2,700 per family. Hosts are expected to raise $10,000 or contribute $5,600 per family.

The event was first reported by Politico.

Chelsea Clinton, who gave Bill and Hillary Clinton their first grandchild last year, played a sizable role in her mother’s 2008 campaign, stumping for the then-senator across the country, sometimes on her own.

To date, Chelsea Clinton’s role in her mother’s second presidential campaign has been limited. She gave a speech at a September event hosted by Foundry Methodist Church in Washington and attended the campaign’s launch in June.

The holiday event is the same day Hillary Clinton will headline a fundraiser featuring her husband, Bill Clinton, and a performance by Sting. Tickets to that event, which is part of her joint effort with the Democratic National Committee, start at $33,400.
