Obituary Notice: Bernadine “Bernie” Terepan Abood

Bernadine “Bernie” Terepan Abood, 81, of DuBois and formerly of Manville, NJ, died peacefully at Christ the King Manor, Saturday, Nov. 28, 2015 with her beloved daughter at her side.

Born March 2, 1934 in Wyoming, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Nicholas and Mary (Shalata) Terepan.

She married Aaron G. Abood Jr. on April 7, 1956.  He preceded her in death on Sept. 13, 2010.

Although born in Wyoming, Pa., she moved to Manville, NJ in 1939 and resided there until 2006 when she moved to Pennsylvania to live with her daughter.

Her first job was at Redfern Laceworks in Somerville, NJ and years later at Ethicon Pharmaceuticals in Bridgewater, NJ.

But more importantly, she was a wonderful mother and homemaker who loved her home, enjoyed yardwork, cooking, reading, scrapbooking, crocheting and tending to her many flowers.

She was a devout Catholic and a life-long member of the St. Mary’s Byzantine Catholic Church in Manville.  She was also a member of the Greek Catholic Union.

She was a quiet person with a pleasant demeanor and had a wonderful sense of humor.  She was loved by everyone who knew her.  She will always be remembered for her beautiful smile.

She leaves behind to cherish her memory three children, Irene Good Ferra and her husband, John “Choo” of DuBois, James Abood and his companion, Patricia of Holmdel, NJ and Joseph Abood and his wife, Sara of Berryville, Va.

She is also survived by two brothers, Daniel and Robert Terepan, and one sister, Marian Terepan; six grandchildren, Sgt. James M. Abood, Nicholas A. Abood, Joanna M. Abood, Kayla N. Good, Dylan J. Good and Dannikalynne N. Abood; three great-grandchildren, Joshua, Allison and Christian Abood.

She was preceded in death by two brothers, William and John Terepan, and one sister, Helen Markunas.

Friends will be received from 2 p.m. – 4 p.m. and from 6 p.m. – 8 p.m. Monday at the Goble-Baronick Funeral Home.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, at the Goble-Baronick Funeral Home with Fr. Robert Karl officiating.

Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery in Hillsborough, NJ.
