Williamsport Man Killed in Cooper Twp. Crash

COOPER TOWNSHIP – A 24-year-old Williamsport man, Matthew M. Sabol II, was killed Thursday in a crash on Rolling Stone Road in Cooper Township, reported the state police at Clearfield.

According to state police, the Sabol vehicle was traveling south at a high rate of speed. Sabol lost control of his vehicle, which traveled off the west side of the roadway and impacted the guiderail.

The Sabol vehicle then traveled back across the roadway and impacted an embankment. It traveled up the embankment and overturned several times before coming to a final rest on its driver’s side in the middle of the roadway.

Sabol was pronounced dead at the scene by Clearfield County Coroner Mike Morris His passenger, Jarrett M. Rockey, 21, of Morrisdale sustained moderate injuries and was transported to the Clearfield Penn Highlands Hospital, according to state police.

Rolling Stone Road was closed for approximately three hours to allow for a crash investigation. State police were assisted by the Winburne, Morris Township and Grassflat fire departments, Moshannon Valley Emergency Medical Services and Morris.
