Edward Wayne Rothrock, 81, of Philipsburg died Sunday, Nov. 22, 2015 at his residence. Born Sept. 7, 1934 in Morrisdale, he was the son of the late Jessie R. and Dorothy D. Smeal Rothrock.
Mr. Rothrock was affiliated with the Methodist faith. He was a member of the Philipsburg VFW and American Legion.
He served two tours of duty in Vietnam, where he received the National Defense Service Medal, the Good Conduct Medal, the Mechanic Badge, the Army Occupation Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal, the Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal with 60 device, the Army Commendation Medal, the Purple Heart and the Bronze Star. He retired from the military as a sergeant first class after 20 years.
He married Rose-Marie Siegel Rothrock on March 29, 1957 in Germany. She survives in Philipsburg. He is also survived by a sister, Hazel Schmauch of Morrisdale.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Delores Sklar and Betty Jane Thompson and two brothers, James and Isaac Rothrock.
The funeral service will be private on Wednesday with the Rev. Dewey M. Evans officiating. Burial will be in the Summit Hill United Methodist Cemetery, Morrisdale.
There will not be any public visitation.
Military honors will be accorded graveside by the Moshannon Valley Independent Honor Guard.
