Penn State DuBois students plan Music Fest to benefit THON

CLEARFIELD – A group of Penn State DuBois students and musicians from across the region are organizing a fundraiser to help children and families impacted by childhood cancer.

Music Fest will take place Nov. 28, beginning at 6 p.m. at the Clearfield Arts Studio Theatre, located at 112 E. Locust St., Clearfield.

For an entry fee of $5, patrons will enjoy an evening of music by local bands Twin Reverb, Oh Well, Strait Fire, Master Exploder, Brad and Josh Experience, The Vine Worship Team and solo acts of Matthew MacKenzie and Rachel Duke.

Proceeds will support the Penn State IFC/Panhellenic Dance Marathon, known as THON, which is a yearlong effort to raise funds and awareness for the fight against pediatric cancer. Since 1977, THON has raised more than $127 million for the Four Diamonds Fund at Penn State Hershey Children’s Hospital. THON takes place annually in February.

“We can’t thank these musicians enough for lending their talents for this fundraiser. They all want to do their part to help children with pediatric cancer as well as support research to find a cure for this horrible disease,” stated Duke, an organizer of the event.

Duke also thanked the Clearfield Arts Studio Theatre’s Board of Directors for its willingness to host the fundraiser. Tim Winters, Steve Albert and Chris Shaffer are also volunteering their time to help with the event.

“Our community is fortunate to have CAST; it’s great place that supports the arts and events like Music Fest. We encourage everyone to attend and enjoy great music while helping a worthy cause,” she said.
