William A. ‘Bill’ Narehood, 84 of Karthaus died Friday, Nov. 20, 2015 at the Mountain Laurel Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, Clearfield.

He was born Aug. 24, 1931 in Pottersdale, a son of the late Blanchard and Lena (Pitts) Narehood.

Mr. Narehood retired from the RS Carlin Coal Co., where he was employed as a drag line operator. He previously worked for Philip Reese Coal Co.
He was the caretaker of the Ganoe Cemetery for many years.  He was avid hunter and loved horses. He enjoyed wood-crafting and raising his honey bees in his apple orchard.

He is survived by his wife, Mary T. (Schultz) Narehood to whom he was wed June 24, 1950 in Frenchville.

He is survived by four children, William G. Narehood and his wife, Sue of Bellefonte and Charles B. Narehood and his wife, Janet, Michelle J. Bamat and her husband, Scott and Michael S. Narehood and his wife, Michele, all of Karthaus.

He is also survived by 11 grandchildren, William M. Narehood, Laura Donovan, Janice Fletcher, Jessica Courtney, Katie Grasty, Adam Narehood, Abraham Narehood, David Narehood, Chase Bamat, Chad Bamat and Michael W. Narehood; 15 great-grandchildren; a sister and two brothers, Helen Paul of Karthaus, Carl Narehood and his wife, Carol of Karthaus and Robert Narehood and his wife, Sharon of Morrisdale; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Betty Heichel and also her husband, John; a brother-in-law, Ken Paul; and a sister-in-law, Letha Narehood.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Karthaus Community Alliance Church with Pastor Daniel Beeman officiating. Burial will follow in the Ganoe Cemetery, Pottersdale.

Friends will be received from 4 p.m. – 7 p.m. Monday at the Kevin A. Beardsley Funeral Home, Clearfield, and from 10 a.m. – 11 a.m. Tuesday at the church.
