CLEARFIELD – The Clearfield Borough Police Department has announced that it will participate in day and night seatbelt enforcement activities as part of the national Thanksgiving “Click It or Ticket” enforcement mobilization from Nov. 23-30.
The department will partner with 350 other law enforcement agencies across the state in an effort to increase seatbelt use and reduce the number of unbelted injuries and deaths.
Each department will dedicate 50 percent of its enforcement time after dark to increase seatbelt use when unbuckled fatalities increase.
PennDOT data for 2014 shows that statewide, 383 people who were killed in crashes were not wearing their seatbelts.
The enforcement is funded by part of the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation’s statewide distribution of $3.5 million in federal funds from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).
