CLEARFIELD – Joining the U.S. Small Business Administration campaign, Mayor James Schell has issued a proclamation declaring Nov. 28 as “Small Business Saturday” in Clearfield.

“Supporting small, local businesses are our top priority, so Clearfield , Pa. is pleased to join with states across the nation to mark this day as one to remind consumers to support local businesses to create jobs, boost our local economy and preserve our neighborhoods,” said  Schell.

According to the U.S. Small Business Administration, there are currently 28 million small businesses in the United States. They represent more than 99 percent of American companies, create two-thirds of the net new jobs, generate half of the private gross domestic products and employ one-half of the employees in the private sector in the United States.

Residents in the community are urged to support local businesses on Nov. 28 in honor of Small Business Saturday. The Clearfield Revitalization Corp. (CRC) will offer free gift wrapping and refreshments from 11 a.m. – 2 p.m.
