Dorothy M. “Dot” Phillips, 91, of Philipsburg went to be with the Lord on Thursday, Nov. 12, 2015 at the Mount Nittany Medical Center, State College.
She was born April 20, 1924 in South Philipsburg, a daughter of the late Hugh T. Sr. and Ida Ruby (Vaughn) Croft.
Mrs. Phillips was a member of the New Life Center, Philipsburg. She was a very giving person and had a wonderful sense of humor.
She had been employed as a server at the Dutch Pantry’s in both Wilmington, Del., and Clearfield, and at the former Harbor Inn of Philipsburg for many years. She was a very hard worker and after retiring from being a server, she worked as a caregiver until she was 86 years old.
She married Clyde Wilson Phillips in June of 1948. He preceded her in death on Feb. 21, 2010.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Gladys M. Croft; a brother, Melvin R. Croft; and a sister-in-law, Mary Alice Croft.
Mrs. Phillips is survived by two sons, Richard Phillips of Somerset and Mark Phillips of Philipsburg; a sister, Sandra L. Pepperday and her husband, Rodney “Pete” of South Philipsburg; a brother, Hugh T. “Bud” Croft Jr. of Philipsburg; two grandchildren, Nathan Phillips and his companion, Dana of Pittsburgh; Regina Phillips of Clearfield; a great-grandson, Seth Phillips of New Mexico; two sisters-in-law, Jean Croft of Philipsburg and Lois Temchack and her husband, Frank of Viola; and several cousins and nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday, at the Beezer-Heath Funeral Home, Philipsburg, with the Rev John T. Dill officiating. Burial will be in Philipsburg Cemetery. The family will receive friends 6 p.m. – 7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
