CLEARFIELD – It’s been a long time coming, but the Clearfield Borough Streetscape Project is nearly completed.
At Thursday’s work session, Engineer Todd Banks of Stiffler, McGraw and Associates said the final inspection of the streetscape project will take place on Nov. 16. He said the inspection is to include everything except the electrical work. Banks said they are still waiting on the light posts, which have not been delivered yet.
The $3 million project involved replacing sidewalks, lighting and planting trees. The project was made possible through a grant from PennDOT.
Councilman Richard Stewart said it had been brought to his attention that some of the trees, which had been planted as part of the project have begun to lean. He said with Thursday’s high winds, the trees are starting to lean even further. Banks said he would take a look at the trees during the inspection.
Borough Operations Manager Leslie Stott said once the light poles have been installed, there will be a “Light-up Night” from 4 p.m. – 6 p.m. Nov. 28, which will be held in conjunction with the Clearfield Revitalization Corp.’s “shop local” weekend.
Also at the meeting, Deputy Fire Chief George Proud reminded all residents to check the batteries in their smoke alarms and carbon-monoxide detectors. Proud said the fire department always recommends residents check their batteries twice a year, when they change their clocks.
