Obituary Notice: Gertrude “Mae” Muth

Gertrude “Mae” Muth, 91, of DuBois died Sunday, Nov. 8, 2015 at the DuBois Nursing Home. Born March 17, 1924 in Sabula, she was the daughter of the late John H. and A. Gertrude (Beer) Bish.

On Oct. 3, 1946, she married Homer L. Muth.  He preceded her in death on Jan. 4, 2011.

She was a member of Light and Life Free Methodist Church in DuBois.  She was active in her church, teaching Sunday school and Summer Bible School and as treasurer of the Church Women’s Missionary Society. She enjoyed annually attending the Free Methodist Women’s Retreats at Wesley Woods, Pleasantville.

She was a member of the DuBois Area School Retirees.  She enjoyed sewing, making quilts and crocheting afghans.  She was a member of Sabula Homemakers.  She was known for her homemade bread and making apple butter with her friends.

She is survived by two daughters, Shirley M. Patton and her husband, Darrell and Patricia L. Muth, both of DuBois; two brothers, John “Jack” Bish and his wife, Irene of Mount Jewett and Lewis Bish and his wife, Norma of Tacoma, Wash.; a sister, Ethel Baughman of Reynoldsville; two grandchildren, Darrell Patton Jr. of DuBois and Jonathan Patton and his wife, Denise of Greer, SC; and three great-grandchildren, Morgan, Isabel and Olivia Patton.

She was preceded in death by two brothers, Elmer and Delbert Bish and four sisters, Margaret Muth, Wilda Weber, Sara Clouser and Leah Kalgren.

Friends will be received from 3 p.m. – 7 p.m. Thursday at the Goble-Baronick Funeral Home.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at the Light and Life Free Methodist Church with Pastor Mark Lutcher officiating. Burial will be in Emmanuel Boone Mountain Cemetery.
