Mary C. Shedlock, 89, a resident of Ridgeview Elder Care, Curwensville, and formerly of Philipsburg, died Saturday, Nov. 7, 2015 in Curwensville.
Born Sept. 8, 1926, she was a daughter of the late John and Pauline (Lucas) Belko.
She was a member of the Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, Philipsburg. She was a member of the Catholic Daughters of the Americas, Court St. Louis No. 723, Philipsburg.
Mrs. Shedlock had been the director of the Community Action Center of Philipsburg for many years, until her retirement.
On April 14, 1951, she wed George W. Shedlock, who preceded her in death on Oct. 27, 1963.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by four brothers, John, George, and Edward Belko and an infant brother; and two sisters, Verna E. Walker and Pauline Belko.
She is survived by two daughters, Carolyn Copenhaver and her husband, John of Tampa, Fla., and Susan Kolbe and her husband, Ted of Philipsburg.
She is survived by two sisters, Betty Sicks and her husband, William of Philipsburg and Marge Lewis and her husband, Ken of Maryville, Tenn.; and four brothers, Andrew Belko and his wife, Lois, Robert Belko and his wife, Barb and William Belko and his wife, Melissa, all of Philipsburg, and David Belko and his wife, Stephanie of Wexford.
Also surviving are four grandchildren, Jackie Bowers and her husband, Todd of San Antonio, Texas, Christa Cooper and her husband, Billy of Universal City, Texas; Katie Kolbe-Holden and her husband, Ryan of Bartlett, NH; and Daniel Kolbe of Philadelphia; three great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The funeral mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday, at the Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, Philipsburg, with the Rev. John Gibbons as celebrant. Burial will follow at the Sts. Peter & Paul Cemetery, Philipsburg.
Friends will be received from 5 p.m. – 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Beezer-Heath Funeral Home, Philipsburg. A vigil service will be held at 7 p.m. followed by the rosary service at 7:30 p.m., both on Wednesday at the funeral home.
