Harriet Cowfer, 81, of Erie died Friday, Nov. 6, 2015 at St. Vincent Health Center in Erie.
Born Oct. 16, 1934 in Osceola Mills, she was the daughter of the late Frederick and Catherine (O’Farrell) Penny. She married James W. Cowfer, who preceded her in death in 1998.
Mrs. Cowfer was of the Roman Catholic faith. She was a homemaker and enjoyed playing bingo, cards, reading and bird watching. She was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by four sisters, Catherine Penny, Sarah Socash, Margaret Colton and Ann Pollick and an infant brother.
She is survived by one daughter, Theresa Artz and her husband, Dan of Erie and one son, Larry Cowfer and his wife, Giselle of Austin, Texas.
She is survived by two sisters, Elizabeth Felix and her husband, Andrew and Delores Cowfer, both of Osceola Mills. She is also survived by five grandchildren, Heather Bochert, Danny Cowfer, Ron Taylor, BJ Cowfer and Stephanie McIntrye; 11 great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Betty Cowfer; and many nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be held at 3 p.m. Tuesday, at the Heath Funeral Home and Cremation Services in Osceola Mills, with Deacon Dennis Socash officiating. Burial will be at the Umbria Cemetery in Osceola Mills.
Friends will be received from 2 p.m. – 3 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
