HARRISBURG – With Tuesday’s election quickly approaching, Secretary of State Pedro A. Cortés today reminded Pennsylvanians that a redesigned election returns Web site allows users to customize searches, view results on mobile devices and receive timely updates.

“This year we have a historic Supreme Court election in Pennsylvania. The eyes of the nation will be on us,” Cortés said. “The Web site offers improved delivery of up-to-the-minute results to the voting public, candidates and the press.”

The Web site, which was launched for May’s primary election, is mobile friendly and matches the current look and feel of the Department of State Web site.

The portal provides visitors a location-based service through the “My County” link which instantly brings up results for the county in which the user is located.  Also, the site provides users with direct links to election results Web sites for each county.

On Nov. 3, Pennsylvania voters will cast ballots for county and local offices, as well as seats on the Pennsylvania Supreme Court, Superior Court and Commonwealth Court.

In the wake of two resignations and a retirement, three new justices will be elected to 10-year terms on the seven-member bench of the Supreme Court, the oldest appellate court in the nation. It is believed to be the first time since colonial days that so many seats are open in one election.

The election returns Web site can be accessed on the Department of State’s home page at www.dos.pa.gov.  County election officials will begin feeding results to the site shortly after the polls close at 8 p.m. on Election Day.

In addition, results will be archived and can be found by selecting “Voting & Elections,” then “Other Services/Events” and “Election Results.”  Currently, primary and general election results are available on the Web site back to the 2000 Primary Election.
