John W. Maines Sr., 87, of Woodland died Saturday, Oct. 31, 2015 at his home. He was born Feb. 29, 1928 in Philipsburg.
Mr. Maines retired from Dick Corp., where he was a foreman and a superintendent. Working construction most of his life, he had been employed by the Mashuda Corp., Paylo Corp., Milano Corp., Rodger Bell Corp., and Rodger Aul Corp.
In his spare time, he loved hunting and fishing. A U.S. Army veteran serving during the Korean War, he was also member of Clearfield Veterans of Foreign Wars.
He is survived by his wife, Vera Louise (Moore) Maines, to whom he was wed July 24, 1954 in Woodland; two children, Amy Kniss of State College and John Maines Jr. and his wife, Susan of Frenchville; and a granddaughter, Melorah Medzie of Bellefonte.
Mr. Maines was preceded in death by baby girl in 1958 and a brother.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Kevin A. Beardsley Funeral Home, Clearfield, with Pastor W. Lee Casher officiating. Burial will be in the Bradford Cemetery, Woodland.
Friends will be received from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
