Evelyn L. Lewis, 85, of Clearfield died Tuesday, Oct. 20, 2015 at her home. She was born Nov. 6, 1929 in Reading, a daughter of the late William H. and Ruth (Boyer) Lengel.

Mrs. Lewis was a Welcome Wagon Hostess for seven years. She was very involved in the community, including serving as president and a member of the Community Concert Association for more than 20 years.

She was involved with the Chaplaincy Program at the Clearfield Hospital for 37 years.  She also served on the advisory council and volunteered with the RSVP, Clearfield.

In addition, she belonged to the Environmental Alliance for Senior Involvement, the DuBois/Susquehanna Chapter of Daughters of the American Revolution, TRIAD, the Clearfield County Crimestoppers and the U.S. Cancellation Club.

She was a member of Church of the Latter Day Saints.

She is survived by her three children, David H. Lewis and his wife, Donna of Aiken, SC, Ruth Schuler of Hamden, Conn., and Gwendolyn Lewis of Pittsburgh; five grandchildren, Wil and Grace Beauseigneur, Ria Schuler, Logan Harrison Lewis and Jamie Hodson; and two brothers, Henry J. Lengel of Nazareth and Thomas E. Lengel of Bastrop, Texas.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, George H. Lewis on April 27, 1997 and to whom she was wed March 22, 1952 in Reading.  She was also preceded in death by grandson, Tanner Nolan Lewis and three brothers, William H., II, Roger I., and Basil D. Lengel.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Kevin A. Beardsley Funeral Home, Clearfield, with Branch President Robert Morrison officiating.

Friends will be received from 4 p.m. – 7 p.m. Friday and from 10 a.m. – 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, 275 21st St., Clearfield; the Salvation Army, P.O. Box 987, Clearfield; or to the charity of one’s choice.
