Owens Accused of Drug Use on Posted Property

DUBOIS – A DuBois woman is facing charges following an incident on Breck Road in Sandy Township.

According to an affidavit of probable cause, filed with District Judge Patrick Ford’s office Oct. 14, Amber Dorene Owens, 33, 25 Forest View Dr., DuBois, is charged by the Sandy Township police with driving while operating privilege is suspended or revoked, possession of a controlled substance, and possession of drug paraphernalia following the incident on Oct. 11.

According to the affidavit, officers on patrol near Breck Road allegedly saw a vehicle turn its headlights off and begin traveling down Breck Road. The vehicle accelerated quickly and was trespassing in an area that was posted as private property. The officer pulled the vehicle over.

The officer spoke to the driver, later identified as Owens, and asked what she was doing. Owens allegedly told the officer that the reason she didn’t stop right away was because she didn’t have a safe place to pull over.

The officer then discovered that Owens had a suspended license and allegedly saw marks on Owens’ neck and hands, which are often associated with drug abuse. The officer allegedly noticed that Owens’ eyes were dilated and she was shaking.

Owens allegedly told the officer she was meeting a friend to return her friend’s keys. Owens allegedly said she had forgotten the keys at her home, which is why she left the area.

The officer had Owens get out of the vehicle, and asked if there was anything in the car the officer should know about. Owens allegedly admitted that she had taken methamphetamines.

Owens allegedly told the officer that she had a pipe for smoking methamphetamines in her make-up bag. The officer then saw a small clear baggie containing white residue under the driver’s seat.

The officer allegedly got permission to search the vehicle and located the pipe, which contained white crystals that field-tested positive for methamphetamines, the plastic baggie, a blue box containing bubble wrap and several glass test-tubes commonly used for making meth pipes.

The officers discovered that Owens was on probation and a detainer was going to be issued. Owens was placed under arrest and taken to the Clearfield County Jail.

The residue in the baggie and within the pipe tested positive for methamphetamines.
