Sherwood Charged with Drug-related DUI

DUBOIS – A DuBois woman is facing charges following a traffic stop.

According to an affidavit of probable cause, filed with District Judge Patrick Ford’s office, Traci A. Sherwood, 44, 133 E. Park Ave., DuBois, is charged by the DuBois City police with manufacture, delivery or possession with intent to manufacture, deliver or possess a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and one summary traffic charge.

Sherwood waived her right to a preliminary hearing Oct. 9, and is being held in the Clearfield County Jail in lieu of $25,000 monetary bail.

According to the affidavit, on Oct. 6, officers on patrol allegedly saw a vehicle driven by Sherwood make a right turn from North Brady Street onto Scribner Avenue without using a turn signal.

The officers continued to watch the vehicle and allegedly saw it make another right turn onto New Street without using a turn signal.

The officers pulled the vehicle over and allegedly saw money laying on the floor between the driver, later identified as Sherwood, and the driver’s side door. The officer also allegedly saw two black and white straws laying under the driver’s seat. The officer noticed the driver appeared to be nervous and confused.

While speaking to a passenger in the vehicle, the officers allegedly saw an orange zip-lock bag containing several other small zip-lock bags.

Both Sherwood and the passenger consented to allowing the officers to search the vehicle, and the officers allegedly found a small red zip-lock bag containing a substance, which later tested positive for methamphetamine, two pieces of paper containing information in reference to wire transactions and $310.

Sherwood allegedly told the officers that she had relapsed over the last couple of days on methamphetamine and had thought about selling methamphetamine to make money.
