Railroad Work Will Close a Section of Route 729 Oct. 12-13

Detour will be in effect

CLEARFIELD – A section of Route 729 (Tyrone Turnpike) near Lumber City in Clearfield County will be closed Oct. 12-13, according to the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation.

Railroad crossing work will close the road near the intersection with Route 969 and a bridge spanning the West Branch of the Susquehanna River.

The closure is necessary so that crews from the RJ Corman Railroad can replace the railroad crossing surface near the Route 729/969 intersection. A detour will be in place during the

two-day closure. Drivers will use Route 969 (Lumber City Highway), Route 3005 (Cherry Corner Road/Marron to Bells Landing Road), and Route 3016 (Marrion Road).

Work is expected to be finished in the afternoon hours of Oct. 13. All work is weather dependent. PennDOT reminds drivers to follow all detour signs, obey posted speed limits and always buckle up.
