COALPORT – October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. The Coalport Center for Active Living, Coalition for People Against Cancer (CPAC), Glendale Area Medical Association and Ridgeview Health and Rehabilitation are joining together on Oct. 3, for the third annual Walk Against All Cancers.
Friends and family can walk in memory or in honor of a loved one. Participants can make it a fun morning by doing a theme for your group, such as dress crazy, wear a funny hat and or wear a color for the different types of cancers.
Registration will be at 9 a.m. at Beechwood Park in Coalport. The walk will begin at 10 a.m. and end at 12 p.m. Donations will be greatly appreciated, and all proceeds will go to CPAC.
CPAC is a little known organization that has done great things in the community. Each year the CPAC group takes women to the Clearfield Penn Highlands Hospital for mammograms. Transportation to and from the hospital, plus a free meal, is provided.
Also during the Christmas season, any cancer patient who is actively being treated receives gift certificates from local stores. The Glendale Medical Center distributes the certificates and the person’s identity is not revealed. This is available one time per person for anyone in the Glendale Valley District.
