Vice President Joe Biden will be the keynote speaker at the top LGBT advocacy group’s gala next week, the Human Rights Campaign announced Friday.
Biden — who is still deciding whether to mount his own presidential bid — will headline the HRC National Dinner on Oct. 3.
The evening will include an award for out actress Ellen Page, who recently had a public clash on gay rights with Republican presidential candidate Sen. Ted Cruz, and an address from the first out NBA player, Jason Collins.
Democratic front-runner and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton will also address the HRC gathering — but in the morning at a separate event, HRC said.
Biden famously preceded President Barack Obama in saying he supported same-sex marriage in 2012.
“From his historic announcement in support of marriage equality to his ongoing commitment to achieving full federal equality for LGBT Americans, the Vice President has proven time and again that he’s a stalwart ally to our community, and we’re honored he’ll be joining us to deliver the keynote address at the HRC National Dinner,” HRC President Chad Griffin said in a statement.
