Portrait Placed in CAJSHS Library to Honor Read

CLEARFIELD – The Clearfield High School (CHS) Class of 1973 donated a stained glass eagle/American flag portrait for placement in the school library to honor a classmate who was one of 12 individuals killed at the Naval Shipyard facility in Washington, D.C. on Sept. 16, 2013.

Gerald Read, a civilian employed by the Navy in cyber security, was shot to death by a lone gunman while saving the life of a co-worker. A scholarship fund in his memory has also been established by his classmates and is awarded annually to an Eagle Scout from the school who will be attending college.

Standing are Alice Brady, librarian; Frank Barba; Dave Read; Mary Anne Jackson, Clearfield school board president; and Tim Janocko, principal.
