DUBOIS – A routine traffic stop has resulted in charges against a DuBois man.
According to an affidavit of probable cause, filed with District Judge Patrick Ford’s office Sept. 8, Johnny Weylin Petrillo, 32, 409 Burt St., DuBois, is charged by the DuBois City police with possession of drug paraphernalia.
According to the affidavit, on Aug. 9, officers on patrol had initiated a traffic stop for several vehicle inspection violations. The driver of the vehicle in question was identified as Petrillo. Further investigation showed that Petrillo has 10 active warrants, and he was taken into custody and searched.
The officers allegedly found a used syringe in his right, front pocket. The passengers in the vehicle asked if they could get out of the car. The officers searched both passengers, and after finding nothing illegal, the officers allowed them to walk to their home.
Petrillo was read his Miranda warnings and gave consent to the officers to search his vehicle, and allegedly told the officers there were more needles in the car. The officers allegedly found three needles and two spoons, containing suspected drug residue. Three more needles were allegedly found in a tan bag, which was also inside the vehicle. The needles were taken into evidence and Petrillo was taken into custody.
