Laura Beth (Shoemaker) Immel, 33, of Philipsburg died Thursday, Sept. 10, 2015.
Born Dec. 2, 1981 in Clearfield, she was a daughter of Fred and Janet (Burket) Shoemaker, who survive of Philipsburg.
Ms. Immel attended the New Life Center in Philipsburg. She was an avid animal lover. She enjoyed working with and helping animals and had aspirations in becoming a veterinary technician. She was also very musically inclined.
She was a 2000 graduate of the Philipsburg-Osceola Area High School.
After graduating high school, she served in the U.S. Navy. Upon her discharge from the Navy, she attended the Pennsylvania State University in State College and later graduated from Penn Tech in Williamsport as a pastry chef.
While at Penn Tech, she won the People’s Choice Award for the wedding cake competition.
Ms. Immel worked as a pastry chef in Williamsport and State College and later was the owner and operator of the Butter Me Up Bakery in Philipsburg in the later part of 2013.
She recently had been employed with the Handy Taxi Service in State College.
In addition to her parents, she is survived by two sisters, Amy Danielle Dalien and her husband, Patrick of Melville, NY and Dana Lee Shoemaker of Philipsburg; a nephew, Patrick Grayson Dalien of Melville, NY; and numerous uncles, aunts and cousins.
Private funeral services were held at the Beezer-Heath Funeral Home, Philipsburg, with the Rev. John T. Dill officiating. Burial followed at the Umbria Cemetery in Osceola Mills.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Beezer-Heath Funeral Home, 719 E. Spruce St., Philipsburg, PA 16866, to help with funeral expenses.
