First on CNN: Daily Show’s Trevor Noah preps for GOP field

How will Comedy Central’s new “The Daily Show” host Trevor Noah make sense of the 16-candidate Republican presidential field?

A new promotional teaser puts his struggles on display, released the day of CNN’s GOP debate hosted at the Ronald Reagan Library in Simi Valley, California, at 8 p.m.

“2016. I need help learning all the candidates,” Noah tells show correspondent Jordan Klepper in the video, stressing that he’s a visual learner. “Pictures, Jordan, pictures.”

The preview is part of the channel’s effort to show that they will remain part of the 2016 conversation even after the departure of the influential host Jon Stewart.

To help Noah learn, Klepper rolls out photographs of the entire Republican field (and adds in portraits of Jesus, an elephant and a viking.) Center photo in one of the photo racks: The surging Ben Carson.

“Oh, I recognize the black guy,” Noah jokes.
