Clearfield County Lifelong Learning Institute Announces Upcoming Classes

CLEARFIELD – The Clearfield County Area Agency on Aging Inc., in collaboration with Lock Haven University Clearfield, has announced two upcoming educational seminars offered through the Clearfield Community Lifelong Learning Institute.

Courses are geared towards the interests of the baby boomers and older citizens.  Typical sessions will last approximately 90 minutes and will be taught primarily by Lock Haven University faculty and community individuals with specific expertise. All programs will either be free or very low cost.

Individuals can join Jennifer Bell, PA-C, Assistant Professor at Lock Haven University on Oct. 6, for “The Empowered Mature Patient.” Topics discussed will include recommended screenings for adults over 50, recommended immunizations, understanding lab tests and results, and a questions and answer session on key issues related to the relationship with your physician.

For many the idea of living simpler has a lot of appeal.  Stressed, stretched, cluttered and time-starved, describe the lives of many people today.

Individuals can attend “Living Simply” on Oct. 20, with Mary Ellen McMahon and learn how to eliminate these words from their vocabulary. McMahon has taught classes on this topic for many years, including the women’s retreats affiliated with the Clearfield County Women’s Health Taskforce, Penn State University’s “Health Matters” and was interviewed on WPSU’s program “Take Note.”

Both seminars will be held on their scheduled date from 1 p.m. – 2:30 p.m. The seminars are offered at no charge but pre-registration is required. Register by calling the CCAAA at 814-765-2696.

The Clearfield County Lifelong Learning Institute has seminars scheduled through December and is diligently working on classes to offer in the spring. For a complete listing of classes, please visit the agency’s Web site at www.ccaaa.net or www.lhup.edu/clearfield and click on the “Lifelong Learning Institute” link.

Programs and services of the agency are funded in part by the Pennsylvania Department of Aging, the Clearfield County Area Agency on Aging Inc., Mature Resources Foundation and local and consumer contributions.
