Washington’s Union Station briefly evacuated

Union Station in Washington was briefly evacuated Friday afternoon following a shooting, according to D.C. police.

Shortly after the evacuation occurred, police began allowing people back into the major commuting and retail hub. D.C. Police quickly tweeted that there was not an active shooting situation and that they were on the scene with multiple other law enforcement agencies.

“NO Active Shooter at Union Station. Investigation underway. More to follow,” D.C. Police tweeted.

U.S. Capitol Police warned lawmakers and congressional staff to stay way from Union Station, which is a few blocks from the Capitol.
