Thomas A. Srock, 85, of Houtzdale died Wednesday, Sept. 2, 2015 at Altoona Center for Nursing Care, Altoona.
Born Aug. 27, 1930 in Fernwood, rural Houtzdale, he was the son of Albert and Mildred (Ream) Srock.
Mr. Srock was a member of the Ramey United Methodist Church. He was employed as a tipple operator for Avery Coal Co. until his retirement.
He served honorably in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and in the Army Reserves for 18 years.
He enjoyed playing cards, Bingo, word find, fishing, hunting, camping and spending time with friends at the Houtzdale Senior Center.
On July 22, 1952, he married Jean (Smith) Srock, who survives at home.
Surviving are two sons, Dennis Srock and his wife, Tracy of Glen Hope and Douglas Srock and his wife, Melva of Killeen, Texas and a daughter, Sheila Thomas and her husband, Timothy of Houtzdale.
Also surviving are eight grandchildren, Brian Srock of Austin, Texas, Megan Merritt and Kelly Thomas, both of Houtzdale, Todd Srock of McCartney, Christopher Srock of San Antonio, Texas, Jacob Srock of Westover and Michelle Campbell and Douglas Srock Jr., both of Killeen, Texas; six great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Mr. Srock was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Ronal and Chester Srock; and two sisters, Jean Merritt and Rolan Srock.
A memorial service will be held at 3:30 p.m. Saturday at the Ramey United Methodist Church with Pastor Clare L Pannebaker officiating. A luncheon will follow at the church.
Burial will be in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery, Brisbin.
