Not losers: Trump praises Tom Brady, Kanye West

Despite all of the loser-calling coming from GOP front-runner Donald Trump, it appears he does like at least two fellow celebrities.

Speaking at a news conference in New York where he pledged his loyalty to the Republican Party, Trump also discussed his affection for New England Patriots’ quarterback Tom Brady and hip-hop artist Kanye West.

Earlier Thursday, a judge overturned the NFL’s four-game suspension against Brady stemming from the infamous “deflate-gate” involving deflated footballs during this year’s AFC championship game.

“Tom Brady is a very good friend of mine,” Trump said. “He’s a great guy, for those of you who don’t know him. He’s an honorable guy and an honest guy and a truly great athlete. He is really a very good friend of mine and I just spoke to him a little while ago, he’s so thrilled and so happy.”

Trump also shared his affection for West, who announced he was running for president in 2020 at MTV’s Video Music Awards on Sunday. On Wednesday, the real estate mogul told Rolling Stone magazine that he hopes to run against West someday.

“Kanye West, I’ll never say bad about him, you know why? Because he loves Trump,” Trump said Thursday. “He goes around saying, ‘Trump is my all-time hero,’ he goes around saying that to everybody, so Kanye West, I love him. Maybe in a few years I’ll have to run against him, I don’t know, so I’ll take that back.”

“He’s been so nice to me,” Trump added. “I only hit people when they hit me. Only. And Kanye West has been so great.”
