Raymond J. “Muskie” Moskel, 76, of Osceola Mills died Thursday, Aug. 27, 2015 at Mount Nittany Medical Center in State College.
Born April 3, 1939 in Morann, he was the son of the late Metro and Anna (Patkaltski) Moskel. His wife, Jane M. (Gezymalla) Moskel, survives at home.
Mr. Moskel was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Osceola Mills. He was a U.S. Army veteran assigned to Company C Third Battalion.
He was a third-degree member of Council No. 2250 Knights of Columbus in Osceola Mills; a life member of B.P.O. Elks No. 1173 in Philipsburg; a member of the L.O.O.M. Lodge No. 327 in Houtzdale; and a member of the Morann Citizen’s Club.
He was retired from Cerro Copper and Brass in Bellefonte. He was a 1957 graduate of the former Madera High School.
Mr. Moskel was an avid hunter. He also loved working in the garden and enjoyed Polka dancing and listening to the Polka party. His “second job” was playing cards, and he liked watching the Pirates on his sun porch.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Richard Joseph Moskel and a grand puppy, Mason.
Along with his wife, Mr. Moskel is survived by two daughters, Barbara St. Louis of Houtzdale and Paula Moskel of Osceola Mills and two sons, James Moskel and his wife, Nancy and Michael Moskel and his fiancée, Bernadette Johnson, both of Philipsburg.
He is also survived by a brother, Robert Moskel and his wife, Cecelia of Erie; two grandchildren, Joshua and Caleb St. Louis; two step-grandchildren, Amy Clark and Jim Winters; two grand puppies, Kendra and Taylor; a sister-in-law, Janice Moskel of Virginia Beach, Va.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church of Osceola Mills, with the Rev. Father Robert J. Horgas officiating. Burial will be at St. Joseph Cemetery in Osceola Mills.
Friends will be received from 2 p.m. – 4 p.m. and from 7 p.m. – 9 p.m. Sunday at the Heath Funeral Home & Cremation Services in Osceola Mills.
The Rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
Military honors will be accorded at the cemetery by the Osceola Mills Honor Guard.
