Luthersburg Man Facing Charges for Estranged Girlfriend’s Death

DUBOIS – An eight-month investigation has resulted in charges of criminal homicide, causing or aiding suicide, involuntary manslaughter and delivery of a controlled substance against a 44-year-old Luthersburg man, Brian L. Schaffer, according to the DuBois City police.

The investigation was conducted by police in conjunction with the Clearfield County District Attorney’s Office. The charges stem from an alleged incident Jan. 2 on Grant Street in DuBois City.

As a result of the alleged incident, Schaffer’s estranged girlfriend, a 32-year-old DuBois woman, died from a gunshot wound to the head, police said.

DuBois City police were assisted by District Attorney William A. Shaw Jr., the Pennsylvania State Police, Clearfield County Coroner Mike Morris, DuBois Emergency Medical Services and the Lehigh Valley Hospital of Allentown.

Schaffer was taken to the Clearfield County Jail for arraignment, police said.
