CLEARFIELD – Entries and donations for the 2015 Penn Highlands Clearfield Hospice Chili Bowl are due by Aug. 31, according to Judy Hixon, hospice manager.

This year’s Chili Bowl is slated for Sept. 17 from 5 p.m. – 9 p.m. at the Expo II Building, Clearfield Driving Park. The theme is “Game On.”

Chili entries are accepted in three categories – Restaurant, Physician, Open and Church. Entry fee is $30.

Two panels of judges determine first, second and third place winners in each category based on taste, aftertaste, aroma, appearance and consistency.

In addition to the chili competition, themed-baskets are raffled off during the night. Individuals, businesses and hospital departments donate these baskets, which contain items such as gift certificates, clothing, household wares, etc.

The themed-baskets are on display in the lobby of Penn Highlands Clearfield until Sept. 15. People may purchase chances on the baskets now and during the Chili Bowl.

All proceeds are used to help cover expenses of hospice patients and their families that are not covered by their insurance.

To register for the competition, please contact Hixon at 814-768-2012.
