CLEARFIELD – The Clearfield Area School District was unsuccessful in its attempt to auction off the Centre Elementary School building and property Saturday, according to Superintendent Terry Struble.

In a brief interview with GantDaily prior to Monday night’s special school board meeting, Struble said the district received one bid on the school.

“And, it didn’t meet the district’s reserve amount on the school,” he said.

The school is located on 8.3 acres at 2075 Highview Rd., Clearfield. It has 15 classrooms with offices, a staged gymnasium, a kitchen, restrooms and an exterior modular classroom.

Struble said the district was able to auction off the contents of both Centre Elementary and the Clearfield Area Middle School. Now he said the school board will have to decide its future plans for both buildings.

He said the school auctions attracted a “good crowd” of bidders again Saturday. He said that he didn’t have a final total of what the district grossed from both school auctions but hoped to later in the week.

Travis Parkes served as the professional auctioneer for both school auctions.
