ABC revealed the new “Bachelor” on Monday night: Software salesman Ben Higgins will be the latest to hand out roses in an attempt to find true love.
Higgins was the second runner-up on Kaitlyn Bristowe’s season of “The Bachelorette” and told People magazine that he’s hopeful about the experience.
“I’m ready to share my life with somebody,” he said. “And I’m not fearful of the idea of getting married. As soon as I can find that person, it seems like the better life will be.”
Higgins said he’s built a friendship with Bristowe and the man he lost out to, her fiance, Shawn Booth.
“I was falling in love with Kaitlyn,” he said. “She’s an amazing person. But after watching the season back, I realized that there were other relationships that seemed a little more right than ours.”
Higgins says he’s open to women of all types, though he names actress Blake Lively as one whose look he’s attracted to. He says he just wants to find a “partner and best friend.”
“Ideally, at the end of this, I will be proposing,” he told People. “That would be a really cool thing.”
“The Bachelor” returns to ABC in January.
