CLEARFIELD – While children and their families are getting ready to go back to school, the Sneaker Closet at the Trinity United Methodist Church in downtown Clearfield is getting ready to provide local children with a pair of new sneakers.
The Sneaker Closet is open to anyone who lives in Clearfield County and provides free new, sneakers and socks, a book and a stuffed animal to children who have medical cards.
Children from infancy through age 3 years can come every three months. Children between ages 4 years and 18 years can come every 6 months.
All children must come in person so that they may be fitted properly, and be accompanied by an adult.
To access the Sneaker Closet, use the entrance located in the church garden.
The Sneaker Closet is funded by donations and operated by volunteers. Donations of money, new sneakers and socks, children’s books and stuffed animals are greatly appreciated.
Volunteers to fit children with new shoes are also needed.
The Sneaker Closet is open from 9 a.m. – 12 p.m. Aug. 22 and Aug. 29, Sept. 12 and Sept. 26, Oct. 10 and Oct. 24, Nov. 7 and Nov. 21, and Dec. 12.
