“J” Walter Knobloch, 90, of DuBois died Friday, Aug. 14, 2015 at his home. Born April 3, 1925 in New Castle, he was the son of the late Walter Jacob and Pearl Marie (Young) Knobloch.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy. He served both in World War II and the Korean War.
On April 16, 1948, he married Marilou (McCracken) Knobloch. She survives.
He retired from Bell Telephone as a field engineer after more than 40 years of service.
He was a member of the Christ Lutheran Church in DuBois. He was active in the DuBois Ministerial Food Pantry.
He was a member of the Bell Telephone Pioneers, the Doric Masonic Lodge No. 630 F&AM in Sewickley and the 32nd Degree Valley of Pittsburgh.
He was also a long-time member and past president of the DuBois Kiwanis Club and the Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie No. 455 in New Castle.
He is survived by his children, Michael Knobloch and his wife, Cindy and Julie Felix and her husband, Rod, all of DuBois, Patrick Knobloch of State College, Timothy Knobloch and his wife, Elizabeth of Parkersburg, W.Va., and Kathleen Zrowka and her husband, David of Pittsburgh; 10 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Eleanor Nemeth and Dolores Baskeyfield and a brother, Edward Knobloch.
Friends will be received from 1 p.m. – 4 p.m. Sunday at the Goble-Baronick Funeral Home.
The Bell Telephone Pioneer Service will be held at 3:45 p.m. Sunday to be followed immediately by masonic services by the members of the Garfield Lodge No. 559 F&AM.
A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at the Christ Lutheran Church with Pastor John Miller officiating.
Full military honors will be accorded at the church by the members of the DuBois Area Honor Guard.
Burial will be in Castle View Cemetery in New Castle.
