How to read like a President: White House releases Obama’s reading list

President Barack Obama has escaped the White House for a vacation at Martha’s Vineyard, spending time with his family and friends, golfing, and, of course, reading.

No vacation is complete without a list of books, and the White House released his summer reading list Thursday afternoon, totaling 2,725 pages. The six books are:

“All That Is,” by James Salter, who died in June;

“All The Light We Cannot See,” by Anthony Doerr, who won the Pulitzer Prize for fiction for the novel;

“The Sixth Extinction,” by Elizabeth Kolbert, who also won a Pulitzer this year for her book;

“The Lowland,” by Jhumpa Lahiri, whose novel was Booker-shortlisted in 2013;

“Between The World and Me,” by Ta-Nehisi Coates;

“Washington: A Life,” by Ron Chernow, the historian who penned the biography of Alexander Hamilton that the musical “Hamilton” is based on.
