Clearfield Resident to Commissioners: ATA is a Rip-off

CLEARFIELD – A Clearfield resident, Vicki Ward, accused the Area Transportation Authority (ATA) of being a rip-off during the public comment session at Tuesday’s Clearfield County Commissioners’ meeting.

According to Ward, riders are supposed to be able to transfer ATA bus routes for free at the Clearfield County Courthouse. When she’s tried to transfer Ward said the driver has requested her to pay a second fee.

Ward explained that the bus transfers are to be for free when both buses are at the courthouse. However, she said there are times due to accidents, roadwork, etc. that it doesn’t always happen that way.

Ward said she recently waited for the next bus, so that she could transfer routes. When she tried to transfer she said the driver wanted her to pay again. “It’s to rip people off and to screw them over,” said Ward.

Commissioners Mark B. McCracken and John A. Sobel said they would be sure to forward Ward’s complaint to the ATA board.
