Obituary Notice: Martha Molleca

Martha Molleca, 101, of Philipsburg died Monday, Aug. 10, 2015 at her residence. Born March 7, 1914 in Hawk Run, she was the daughter of the late John and Laura Mae (Wood) Moriarty.

She married the late James Anthony Molleca on Nov. 22, 1930 in Philipsburg. He preceded her in death on March 19, 2003.

Mrs. Molleca was a member of the Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Philipsburg, where she was a member of her church’s Rosary Society.  She was a member of the VFW Post No. 3450 Auxiliary in Philipsburg.

She was employed for 30 years as a seamstress for Charles Navasky & Co. in Philipsburg. She was then employed for five years as a cafeteria worker for the Philipsburg-Osceola Area School District until her retirement.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two daughters, Dolores Werries and Marlene Molleca; one granddaughter, Deborah Jo Werries; two sisters, Helen Seas and Bertha Hunter; and seven brothers, Matthew, Thomas, Dennis, Frank, John, Calvin and Howard Moriarty.

Mrs. Molleca is survived by a daughter, Joselyn Czap and her husband, Michael of Philipsburg; five grandchildren, Paul Werries and his wife, Tammy and Nikkolet Taubenberger and her husband, Steve, all of Virginia, Darrell Werries of Utah, Michael A. Czap and his wife, Jody of Philipsburg and Jay A. Czap and his wife, Julie of Abbottstown; eight great-grandchildren; one great-great grandson; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A funeral mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday, at the Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Philipsburg, with the Rev. John Gibbons as celebrant.  Burial will be at the Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Cemetery in Philipsburg.

Friends will be received from 2 p.m. – 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. – 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Beezer-Heath Funeral Home, 719 E. Spruce St., Philipsburg.

On Wednesday a Vigil Service will be conducted by Fr. Gibbons at the funeral home at 6:15 p.m. It will be followed by the recitation of the Rosary at 6:30 p.m. by the Sts. Peter & Paul Rosary Society.
