Joe Biden to attend memorial for Tennessee shooting victims

Vice President Joe Biden will travel to Tennessee this weekend to attend a memorial for five slain service members who were shot at a military facility in July.

The Saturday service in downtown Chattanooga comes nearly a month after Mohammad Abdulazeez shot and killed four Marines and one Navy sailor at a Navy operations support center.

The victims were Marine Gunnery Sgt. Thomas Sullivan, Lance Cpl. Squire K. Wells, Marines Staff Sgt. David Wyatt, Marines Sgt. Carson Holmquist, and Navy Petty Officer Randall Smith.

The shooting prompted calls for greater security at military recruiting stations nationwide, since Abdulazeez opened fire at such a facility before proceeding on his rampage to the Naval operations center.

Biden is currently on vacation in Kiawah Island, South Carolina, where he’s consulting with family on whether to mount a third presidential bid.
