Days after Jeb Bush called out Donald Trump for his controversial “blood” comment about Megyn Kelly, Trump is firing back on social media with a newly released video on Instagram attacking Jeb Bush and the Bush family.
The 15-second video mashup, edited to the tune of circus music, features Presidents George H.W. and George W. Bush, followed by the latest Bush presidential hopeful, Jeb Bush.
Trump takes a jab at Bush 41’s pledge to not raise taxes with the famous “read my lips” line and Bush 43’s decision to go to war in Iraq.
“Those weapons of mass destruction gotta be somewhere,” Bush 43 jokes.
Then enters Megyn Kelly — Trump’s newest nemesis — asking Jeb Bush if he would have authorized the invasion of Iraq, to which he responds, “I would have.”
And finally, a jump-cut to a clip of Jeb Bush that appears to show him criticizing his father and brother. “My brother did this wrong or my dad did this wrong,” Jeb says, before the video cuts to a black-and-white slate that reads, “The third time won’t be a charm,” accompanied by Trump’s campaign slogan, #MakeAmericaGreatAgain.
Trump tweeted out a link to the video, with a message that reads, “Enough is Enough- No more Bushes!”
Just hours after the video’s release, the Republican front-runner took a jab at another candidate, tweeting that Sen. Rand Paul reminds Trump of a “spoiled brat without a properly functioning brain.” The Kentucky senator has been vocal about Trump being a “fake conservative” and held a conference call for reporters Monday afternoon to attack Trump before going after him on Fox News.
Trump was supposed to deliver the keynote address at the RedState Gathering in Atlanta on Saturday, before organizer Erick Erickson rescinded Trump’s invitation the night before due to the “blood coming out of her wherever” comment Trump made about Kelly’s aggressive performance in Thursday’s debate, which many had interpreted as offensive and demeaning to women.
Jeb Bush appeared at the same event and supported Erickson’s decision to disinvite Trump, telling attendees, “What Donald Trump said is wrong.”
“That is not how we win elections and worse yet, that is not how you bring people together to solve problems,” Bush said. “Mr. Trump ought to apologize.”
