Edward C. Hirchak, 92, of Ramey died Tuesday, Aug. 4, 2015 at Epworth Manor, Tyrone. Born Sept. 13, 1923, he was the son of the late Adam and Mary (Grace) Hirchak.
Mr. Hirchak was a 1946 graduate of the Bigler Township High School. He was a World War II Army veteran. He served in Company L 19th Infantry 24th Division in the Philippine Islands.
He was a member of the Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Ramey, as well as of the American Legion Freeberg Post 591, the Janesville VFW Post 6321 and the Disabled American Veterans, Altoona.
Mr. Hirchak worked as a postal clerk at the Ramey Post Office.
He married Dolores (Kost) Hirchak on Oct. 27, 1951 in the Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Ramey.
He is survived by his wife, Dolores; a brother, Thomas (Pearl) Hirchak of Louisiana; a sister-in-law, Eleanor Hirchak of Altoona; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his sister, Mildred Olechnowicz; four brothers, Emery, Bernard, Albert and Leonard Hirchak; and two infant sisters.
Friends will be received from 4 p.m. – 7 p.m. Friday and from 8:30 a.m. – 9:30 a.m. Saturday at the Kruise-Spewock Funeral & Cremation Services Inc., Ramey.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Ramey, with Fr. Zab Amar as celebrant. Entombment will follow Calvary Cemetery, Altoona.
