VCCCLEARFIELD – Staff members at Visit Clearfield County (VCC) have released the weekly events for Aug.7-13.

The theater’s lobby opens at 6:30 p.m. You can grab some popcorn, even if you cannot attend the movie showings. For movies and show times, please call 814-765-5835. Prices are $6 for adults and $4 for children (12 years and under) and senior citizens (60 years and older).

Horse Camp

Mahaffey Camp

For ages 10 – 15 years, Horse Camp is a week of fun and adventure. It is open to riders of all levels; campers are given opportunities to learn practical horsemanship skills through on-site training. Campers will learn basic riding, proper caring for a horse, stable management and safety. Campers will be instructed based upon Christian Camp Horsemanship International; each will have the opportunity to attempt to complete level one and receive a certificate. Mahaffey Camp

What makes a tree ‘big’? Whether you are trying to place value on a tree, or trying to score it against others trees, you need to have a consistent way to measure trees. Come learn some methods used to measure and score trees for comparison and value and why this is important, especially if you own big trees.

Learn the basics of how to use a recreational GPS receiver – marking way-points, navigating, etc. You will be introduced to geocaching as well. We’ll start inside, but will be heading out – so be prepared for the weather.

Hot dogs and mountain pies are good, but will only get you so far along the scale of culinary delight. Learn more creative, and delicious, ways to impress your taste buds while cooking at camp. There will be some samples to try, and recipes to take and try for yourself.

You can enjoy the sights and sounds of summer in the picnic pavilion. The cost is $5 per person; catered food is available at an additional cost. Musical entertainment will be provided at 7 p.m. by The 2 of Us.
