CLEARFIELD – On Tuesday the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) and the Clearfield Borough Police Department attended Kids Day at the Clearfield County Fair as part of National Back to School Safety Month.
PennDOT and the Clearfield Borough Police Department offered free fingerprinting and discussed tips on pedestrian, vehicle and bicycle safety from 10:30 a.m. through 12:30 p.m. in the Expo II plaza.
Representatives offered key safety messages including:
- Get to the school bus stop five minutes early, so kids do not have to run to catch the bus;
- Never push when getting on or off the school bus;
- Always wear a seat belt
- Always wear a bicycle helmet to reduce head injuries; and
- Always walk on the sidewalk when available.
