CLEARFIELD – Every emergency response call for volunteer firefighters exposes them to the risk of injury or even worse, such as with the recent loss of Jeffrey Buck earlier this year.

After the loss, members of the Clearfield Volunteer Fire Department began asking themselves: “what can we do to help our members in the event of a line-of-duty injury.”

Officers of the Clearfield Volunteer Fire Department, along with Greg Hallstrom, owner of Busters Sports Bar and a life member of the fire department, united to establish a fund for injured members of the Clearfield Fire Department.

Hallstrom holds an annual Busters Sports Bar Golf Tournament to raise money for people in the community who are in need of assistance.

Proceeds from this year’s tournament, along with matching funds from the fire department, were allocated to set up the fund. The fund will be managed by the fire department’s board of directors.
