2 killed, several hurt in New Hampshire circus tent collapse

Two spectators were killed and several others injured when a circus tent collapsed during severe weather in Lancaster, New Hampshire, officials said.

Around 100 people were inside the tent when it came down during the 5:30 p.m. performance of the Walker Brothers Circus, the state fire marshal said.

The cause of the collapse was not immediately clear although a storm was moving through at the time, with one-inch hail, 60 mph winds and lightning, authorities said.

Officials didn’t release the names of the deceased, only describing them as a “young man and a young girl.”

They also couldn’t say exactly how many people were injured. Officials were checking with local hospitals.
