Santorum campaign offers parody peek inside Clinton campaign HQ

Ever wonder what a day in the campaign offices of Hillary Clinton is like? Rick Santorum’s campaign is only too happy to offer some suggestions.

RealWorldHillary.com, which went live on Friday, features mock re-enactments of “what everyday life at the Clinton campaign probably looks like,” featuring videos of campaign workers shredding documents and auctioning off nightly stays at the White House, references to past and recent scandals involving Clinton and her husband, former President Bill Clinton.

One video shows workers in a mock-up of the campaign’s “Rapid Response Room” whose job it is to shred documents, a thinly veiled reference to Clinton’s email controversy.

“We’ve got more boxes,” an actor says.

“You’re kidding? We’ve got no more room,” a staffer replies.

Another clip shows two staffers in the “IT and Transparency Department” blacking out a video camera to cover their computer activity. And one video shows an auctioneer selling off one night’s stay in the White House for $50,000, a reference to Bill Clinton granting overnight stays in the Lincoln Bedroom to major Democratic donors during his presidency.

The website’s goal, Santorum tweeted, is “to give voters a behind the scenes look at the Clinton campaign.”

Requests for comment from both the Santorum and Clinton campaigns were not immediately returned early Saturday afternoon.

In a fundraising email on Monday, Santorum criticized Republicans for fighting among themselves, saying that intraparty controversies only boost the chances of Clinton, the Democratic front-runner, of capturing the White House next year.

And the new website could also be seen as an attempt by Santorum to create buzz ahead of the first Republican debate on Thursday, which will only feature the top 10 candidates according to national polls. Santorum currently ranks outside the group, and other lagging candidates, including Sen. Lindsey Graham — who smashed his cell phone in a viral video last week after Donald Trump gave out his number in public — and former Texas Gov. Rick Perry — who challenged The Donald to a pull-up contest — have also pulled stunts to garner attention.
