Thompson Supports House Passage of the Regulations from the Executive in Need of Scrutiny (REINS) Act

WASHINGTON, D.C. – On Tuesday U.S. Rep. Glenn ‘GT’ Thompson voted to support H.R. 427, the Regulations from the Executive in Need of Scrutiny (REINS) Act of 2015.

The act amends the Congressional Review Act to require approval of every new regulation proposed by the executive branch with an annual impact upon the economy of $100 million or more.

The U.S. House of Representatives passed H.R. 427 by a vote of 243-165. Immediately thereafter, Thompson issued the following statement:

“On multiple occasions, the administration has attempted to move a legislative agenda under the guise of regulation. These regulatory actions have been punitive and continue to stifle the economy and hurt job creation, especially in our rural communities.

“Passage of the REINS Act will dramatically improve transparency and accountability, while placing a much needed check on the Executive branch.”
